Lined Moss Stitch Purse (free pattern)

My first written pattern! This little purse started with the fabric bag a set of sheets came in. It was too nice to throw out, so I designed a purse around it and used the bag as the lining.

It’s worked in a three-color moss stitch that changes color every row, but because you carry the yarn up the side instead of cutting it, there are hardly any ends to weave in. The base, back and flap are one long piece, and the front and sides are picked up straight from the base, so there’s no separate panel to sew on. Cardboard inserts hidden behind the lining help it keep its boxy shape.

The pattern is free. Download the PDF below, and if you make one, I’d love to see it!
